About the Company
Midwest Flavors was started by the five children of Estelle and Arlene Blair. The children were raised in the northwest part of Iowa. They all liked to cook, but they all loved to grill. Their children Lee, Shanda, Eric, Dell and Trent loved the seasoning that their mother had made and used so often. They ended up doing a lot of grilling and people began to want the seasoning that made their cookouts so good.

So, we decided to form a company. With all of us growing up in Iowa we wanted to relate the name with the Midwest. Dell and Shanda came up with the name and Midwest Flavors L.L.C. was born. They decided to name the seasoning “Country Blend” to keep the Midwest theme. To promote the seasoning, Dell began entering contests, grilling at stores and passing out free samples. Country Blend quickly caught on, and soon the name became synonymous with a good, Midwestern flavor.

A bit about the family today 2007
Our father, Estelle passed away in 2005, and Arlene lives on the home place still. We’ve dedicated our label to our brother Dell who passed in 2003. He had the original idea of starting Midwest Flavors. Our brother Eric passed away in Feburary of 2007. His wife Michelle and sons live in Iowa. Michelle's in charge with the operations of Midwest Flavors. Lee and Trent and their families live in Iowa. Lee's in the woodworking business and makes our  table caddy's.  Trent has a busy life but he finds time to enter a few grilling contests each year. Trent’s oldest daughter Tandy lives in Miami and is going to culinary school. She’s the one that is suppling us with the “Tips” that she has learned in school. Shanda and her family live in Alaska and that’s why moose is mentioned in our recipes.

Successful grilling to all of you,
The Blair's
